CPI measures consumer prices. CPIF holds interest rates fixed in the calculation. CPIF-XE also excludes energy.
Annual inflation = (annual average index in year t / annual average index in year t−1 − 1) × 100. CPI uses established annual averages (TAB4352). CPIF and CPIF-XE use the arithmetic mean of all 12 published monthly indices (TAB6590/TAB6593). Incomplete years are excluded. This is neither December-to-December inflation nor an average of monthly inflation rates. Rounded source indices can cause small differences from other published rates.
